The Programs & Projects department translates our mission into tangible, community-led action. It leads the design, implementation and oversight of initiatives across education, health, livelihoods and environmental stewardship. Rooted in participatory planning, this department ensures that programs are co-created with local leaders and reflect authentic community priorities.
Program design starts with rigorous community consultation and needs assessment. Whether launching a youth mentorship program, rolling out a health screening campaign, or piloting a livelihood initiative, the team maps assets and gaps, sets realistic outcomes, and develops a theory of change that prioritizes sustainability and local ownership.
Operationally, this department manages partnerships with local institutions, coordinates field teams and volunteers, and oversees logistics, procurement and budgeting for project execution. It combines project management best practices with an adaptive mindset — learning from monitoring data and community feedback to iterate and improve interventions in real time.
Capacity building is central to the department’s mandate. Projects intentionally integrate local training components so community members gain the skills needed to maintain and expand initiatives independently. This approach ensures that when projects reach maturity, local stakeholders can continue the work with minimal external input.
Programs & Projects also prioritises evidence and learning. Each project collects qualitative and quantitative data to measure outcomes, capture stories of change, and surface lessons learned. Findings are shared across the Foundation to inform future design and to demonstrate impact to partners and donors.
